Farman's research focuses on the life-cycle assessment of bio-based materials in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with particular attention to biogenic carbon dynamics, land use and the variability of agricultural practices. His goal is to enable a robust assessment of bio-based materials that is comparable with conventional materials, in order to guide eco-design decisions.
