About the lab
recherche environnement

The lab recherche environnement is the scientific partnership between VINCI and ParisTech which aims to reduce the impact of buildings and infrastructures on the environment

About us

The lab recherche environnement is a research programme resulting from the partnership between VINCI and three ParisTech engineering schools under the aegis of the ParisTech Foundation and approved by the Group’s General Management. Founded in 2008, under the former name of the Ecodesign Chair, this partnership supports research on the environmental performance of buildings, neighbourhoods and infrastructures.

Scientific philanthropy

The lab recherche environnement is part of a scientific philanthropy process. It promotes the development and dissemination of knowledge on environmental issues, related to VINCI’s business lines, as part of an approach defending the general interest and with respect for the independence of researchers. Research findings are made public and shared not only with the scientific community, but also with all stakeholders in cities and the regions to facilitate decision-making and improve user habits.

More than 10 years of partnership

Since its creation in 2008, the lab recherche environnement has been supported:

  • in the sum of €7 million by the VINCI group;
  • for a total of 30 projects carried out in particular within the framework of doctorates. This VINCI commitment has been renewed until 2023, for additional funding of €5 million.

About fifty Group employees are involved in the life of the lab recherche environnement, in particular, through mirror groups, made up of VINCI executives associated with the supervision of research projects. Dissemination is a key point with more than 150 academic publications and nearly 500 people (VINCI and external employees) who participate each year in the conferences of the lab recherche environnement.
